Encouraging members of the 'Acquire Team' to connect with colleagues they don't get to communicate with on a regular basis

Taking the time to connect and talk with your colleagues has never been so important. With many of us experiencing new working arrangements, joining virtual meetings, morning stand-up’s and having videos calls with clients and contacts. So we introduced ‘Time To Talk Tuesdays’, encouraging members of the ‘Acquire Team’ to connect with colleagues they don’t get to communicate with on a regular basis, for a coffee and catch up!

Our first ‘Time to Talk Tuesday’ took place on the 31st March and was a huge success with colleagues taking the time to connect with each other. Conversations took place around gaming and how the brain and eyes work when you play on VR games, how members of the team are trying to keep their daily routines as normal as possible, when it comes to working from home, the impact COVID-19 is having on industries like farming and what could be creatively be done to support much farmers to prevent much needed produce going to waste.

Members of the team also shared that they learned new things about each other as well as sharing recommendations for films, music, box-sets and other ideas for things to do whilst we are all learning to deal with the current situation we find ourselves in. It was also a fantastic way to ensure our newest member of the team who started one day before our working from home arrangements went into effect, had the opportunity to continue to connect with new colleagues.

Individuals also shared how they felt after their call, “I definitely felt so much more connected and felt very much more uplifted in mood”, “I certainly think that although we are so separated, doing this chat with a different colleague, will definitely bring us closer”, “It was a really nice to have the opportunity to ask how people are and how they are getting on with everything”, “A nice little idea that actually means a lot”.

We’re aware of how important activities and opportunities for employee engagement are, and the importance of a positive approach to mental health and well-being.

We’re committed to continuing our ‘Time to Talk Tuesdays’ and encourage other companies out there to start their own!
