System Sentinel

Included with every Acquire Player and Acquire SOLO license is a free copy of our System Sentinel software (Acquire Signage2Go users may upgrade too using this service).

System Sentinel acts as a guardian for your computer to protect it against even the most malicious attacks and to ensure that the system is working for you. Consider that even though the PC you are installing the software onto has been properly configured (if not, please consider our PC configuration service), once it has been installed in the remote site, any number of things can still cause an issue which may affect it and stop it from working. Unlike your desktop PC which is right in front of you, you may not be aware of the issue until many weeks later.

System Sentinel handles this for you by using a 3 tiered approach:

1. Prevention – System Sentinel integrates with the operating system at a low level to protect it from typical intrusions. A number of standard configuration settings are changed to ensure that even in the event of a malicious user connecting a keyboard and mouse, access to the operating system is very limited *1
2. Reaction – System Sentinel constantly monitors the operation of the Acquire core software packages and detects anything outside of normal operating parameters. If this occurs, the System Sentinel and Acquire software work together to get the system operating again AUTOMATICALLY! *2
3. Notification – Whenever anything occurs on the system, the System Sentinel application logs every event and when using the PLUS! Network, these logs are then uploaded and used to initiate Automated Warnings and Alerts to inform you that support may be required.

System Sentinel also provides a secure communications technology which allows your support staff to remotely connect to the unit using Site Manager and quickly resolve any issues, often without the need for a site visit.

If you want to run and monitor other software applications, additional to Acquire then you will need to upgrade to System Watchdog.

*1 If your systems are publicly accessible, provide public browsing of websites, or for situations where higher security is required by the client, we recommend upgrading to System Watchdog which provides many additional security features.

*2 If applications and services other than those used by Watchdog need to be monitored, or monitoring of 3^rd party devices is required, we recommend upgrading to System Watchdog.
